When Claudia and Richard connected with us through a mutual friend (the amazing Cecile Davis!), I was so excited about the opportunity to photograph a destination wedding in Tulum. Fortunately, I had already been there once this past year with a group of fellow wedding photographers. To be honest, I completely fell in love with the natural luxury and magic of this little town in Mexico. Claudia and Richard’s beautiful, bohemian Akiin Tulum wedding was an absolute DREAM to photograph.
The venue, Akiin Beach Club, is right on the water in Tulum, Mexico but still surrounded by so much greenery and tropical goodness – so if you’ve been dreaming of a Tulum wedding, this is your spot! Truly, everything about the location is so picture-esque, and absolutely perfect for the boho, romantic and tropical feel. It really was a magical wedding space and day! Of course, we shot lots of film photos… and we’re super happy with how everything they all turned out. We’re so honored that Style Me Pretty chose to feature their wedding on their front page.
Claudia and Richard put so much thought and effort into the day. I especially loved getting to know the two of them, their son Adrian, and their dog Taco. Thank you for having us as your Tulum wedding photographer!
Magdalena Studios was amazing! We wanted to go all out with the best photography team we could find for the big party wedding! Magdalena Studios was professional, talented, experienced, fun, easy to work with and not pretentious. We especially loved that they shared a few good shots right away so that we could share them immediately.
The family-owned wedding venue, Akiin Beach Club, made everything extra special and personalized. We were very familiar with the space, personally know the wedding planner and many of the staff, and we were even able to have our beloved rescue pup Taco roam free during the event.
The wedding was a blend of Mexican and American sensibilities and customs to honor our backgrounds, our guests, and the location. We chose a ‘natural luxury’ theme to let the beauty of the venue shine, the handblown glass, bejuco (wicker) decorative globes and hanging lamps, local copal incense, mezcal for toasting, menu, drinks, plate chargers, table decorations and foliage all made locally or from Mexico. Midnight snack of empanadas in both Argentine and Mexican styles also nod to bride and groom’s backgrounds.
