Ayla and Blake met in preschool and were the best of friends throughout middle and high school, but, did not start dating until they both moved to New York City after college. They met up for dinner to catch up as friends and within two weeks, they we were dating. The rest is history!
Their wedding was the first big event that many of their guests attended in a while due to the pandemic, so they wanted to make sure the wedding felt classic, but also exciting. "After spending a year and half in sweatpants, we knew we wanted our wedding to be a black-tie event - and we are so glad we did!" Luckily, The Ashford Estate has a lot of built-in classic beauty that makes it feel like a black-tie venue, so they decided to focus on flowers for their decor. They chose a timeless palette of white florals with greenery which looked beautiful not only in the space, but also in all of their photos. They also decided to not have a large wedding party - simply a best man and a maid of honor. "Having a very small wedding party was one of our favorite decisions as it made the whole day feel more intimate."
When it came to photography, Ayla writes, "We loved the beautiful and authentic moments Magi is able to capture. From the lighting to the attention to details, we find Magi's photography to be absolutely timeless. From our very first phone call with Magi, we knew we were in great hands. Magi and her team are simply the best!"
Their number one tip is "do a first look! We were able to enjoy a least half of our cocktail hour because we did a first look and immediate family photos prior to the ceremony. We are so glad that we did!"
